This morning around 2:00AM Canton police officers were dispatched to 1424 Washington Street for the report of a person stabbed. Upon arrival, officers rendered aid to a male subject suffering from a non-life threatening stab wound.
Simultaneously, a second male subject barricaded himself inside the home. After safely evacuating both the victim and a female occupant from the residence, officers established a perimeter and both the Metro-LEC SWAT team and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad were contacted.
Numerous attempts were made by our negotiators to make contact with the lone male still inside the residence. No response was received. After determining that the subject may have been suffering from self-inflicted wounds the SWAT team made entry to render aid.
Once removed from the residence, the subject was transported to a Boston area hospital via Med-Flight with very serious, life threatening injuries.
We would like to thank Metro-LEC and our partners at the Massachusetts State Police for their response and assistance at this incident. We would also like to thank our partners in the media for their cooperation and patience as we worked this fluid scene.
At this time, this is all the information we will releasing regarding this situation.
