You should file a report if you're the operator of a vehicle involved in a crash where the damage to any one vehicle or property is over $1,000, or if there is an injury to any person, even if a police officer was on the scene. You should file the report within 5 days of the date of the crash.
You should not file a report if the crash occurred on a private road, driveway, private parking lot or other private way.

If you are in an accident and you are still at the scene of the accident needing immediate police assistance, dial 911. Stay calm and give your exact location, including the town that the accident occurred in. If you are reporting the accident after the fact, you can download the Accident Report Form (PDF) and complete it at your leisure. Once you complete the form, follow the instructions located in the lower right corner of the form. You can drop off a copy at the Canton Police Headquarters or mail a copy of the report to:
