Traffic Enforcement Unit


The Mobile Operations Unit  plays a crucial role in ensuring road safety and traffic management.  Responsibilities include enforcing traffic laws, investigating accidents , conducting OUI Checkpoints in coordination with Massachusetts State Police and educating the public on safe driving practices.  Officers in this unit may also collaborate with other agencies to enhance overall traffic safety within the community.  The unit also provides motorcycle support for large scale incidents, events and civil disturbance situations. Canton METROLEC officers have been mobilized for situations around the state including events at Gillette Stadium, Fenway Park, the Democratic National Convention, and crowd control for post-game Red-Sox and Patriots celebrations in downtown Boston. 

Vehicles & Personnel

The unit is equipped with four Harley-Davidson motorcycles and an unmarked cruiser. Two patrol officers are currently assigned to the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (METROLEC) Motorcycle Unit.

Mobile Operations Unit also provides car seat installations for Canton residents.  The car seat Installation process involves meticulously securing and properly installing child car seats to ensure optimal safety.  Trained officers assess and follow manufacture guidelines, inspecting seat angles, harness adjustments, and secure the seat properly.  This service aims to educate caregivers and promote child passenger safety through correct and standardized car seat usage.
