COVID – 19
PLEASE CONSULT THE FOLLOWING REPORTING GUIDANCE
The Canton Police Department has established an online reporting system for NON-EMERGENCY SITUATIONS and minor motor vehicle crashes. These new procedures will help ensure the safety of our officers as well as our community while we all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19.
To report NON-EMERGENCY situations such as property crime, identity theft, vandalism and minor thefts please click here. Fill out the online form and an officer will contact you.
If you are involved in a minor motor vehicle crash—please exchange information with the other operator i.e. (License Plate #s, License #s, insurance and contact information) then download a crash report by clicking here. Download the form, follow the instructions, and email it to MVA@town.canton.ma.us with the police department copy.
Unfortunately, we are also unable to install car-seats. We appreciate your cooperation as we work together during this time.
Process For Renewing or Applying for a License to Carry or Firearms Identification Card
•All applicants should drop off, mail or email (email@example.com) their new or renewal applications. We are still withholding using the sign-up book in the lobby for now. New applicants must include a copy of their safety certificate with their application.
• Applicant’s should include a check for the application fee along with the application, no processing will be initiated without the appropriate fee included. Check or money order should be made out to ‘The Town of Canton’. More information on what fees are applicable can be found at https://www.mass.gov/firearms-license.
•Applications are available on the Firearms Record Bureau website, https://www.mass.gov/how-to/apply-for-a-firearms-license.
•For new applicants, once we are in receipt of you application, we will call to schedule an in-person appointment for fingerprinting. No meeting will occur unless applicant is wearing a mask. Anyone experiencing a fever or flu like symptoms will be asked to stay at home. Rescheduling will not be a problem.
•For licensees who apply for a renewal prior to the expiration of their license (and who get a receipt acknowledging so), their license will remain valid until the agency approves or denies it. As a result, delaying the in-person portion of the licensing process will not prejudice these licensees. We have been processing renewal licenses without a face-to-face meeting. Any questions are followed up by a phone conversation with the applicant.
